Fun video spoofing Lions pancake breakfasts, featuring real Lions Clubs members and Chicago Second City Players Carisa Barreca, Greg Hollimon, Kevin Sciretta, and Neal Dandade.

Many Lions pancake breakfasts may be rooted in tradition, but whether Lions serve pancakes or waffles, in the end they’re really serving the communities. Visit the Lions Blog to learn how one Lions club in Texas, USA, set a pancake world record in 2009: http://lionsclubs.org/blog/?p=9517

Take Highway 17 South

From Los Gatos, go 6 miles – the Redwood Estates exit is one mile after Idylwild. You’ll see a sign for Redwood Estates; as soon as you pass it take a tight turn to the right.

After you exit, turn immediately to the right, then to the left, and continue uphill. You’ll go past the fire station on your right and then the Pavilion. Bear to the left up the hill after the Pavilion, then to the right (there are signs to the Post Office and the store every so often). Go over a speed bump, left at the next curve, and then you’re in downtown Redwood Estates! Nonno’s will be on your right.

The one and only Wild Game Feed will be on June 12, 2014. This unique, “beyond a BBQ”, event is held at Napredak Hall, 770 Montague Expressway, San Jose. It is organized by Cupertino Host Lions and the net proceeds support the charitable work of Cupertino Host Lions Charities, Inc. Two ‘hands-on’ charitable projects are the Fish-A-Thon for children and adults with special needs and the Navajo Project – collecting and transporting donated items to Gallup, New Mexico.

The food is diverse and plentiful, the raffle has over 60 items (most related to hunting and includes over 30 guns) and there is a live auction. Outdoor enthusiasts and those wanting to tickle their palate buy the $90 ticket for the dinner, beer mug/all the beer you can drink, and dice table ticket, or the $60 ticket for the dinner only.

Tickets:

online at wildgamefeed2014.eventbrite.com

by credit card or check to Cupertino Host Lions Charities, Inc. (408-278-7077)

On this Memorial Day weekend, in memory of our departed Lions, 2013-2014, who not only served the community as Lions, but many of whom served our great country as veterans.

Seven Monta Vista High School students are this year’s recipients of the prestigious Lions Clubs International Young Leaders in Service Award. The award honors students who contribute 50 or more hours of community service in a given year. Caroline Chen, Katie Chen, Sharon Tung, Jennifer Chen, Rachael Tham and William Chang received Silver Seal Awards (50 hours), and Kevin Coe received the Gold Seal Award (100 hours). Kevin Coe is a two-time recipient of the Gold Seal Award, an honor realized by only 3-4 four students per year world-wide.

The students are all members of the De Anza Lions sponsored Monta Vista High School Leo Club, a campus community service organization. The awards were presented by De Anza Lion Kent Vincent on May 18 at a banquet held in honor of the Leos at TGI Friday’s Restaurant in Cupertino.  Two-year Leo Club President and graduating senior Jessica Ho was also honored with a special Lions award for outstanding leadership. The club has tripled in membership (105 members), outreach and charity fundraising during her tenure, focusing on such projects as the Special Olympics, the National Children’s Cancer Society and One Sight programs for disadvantaged students needing glasses.

De Anza Lions Club is one of the largest and most active in the Bay Area. It has introduced and motivated many students to community service and made possible the service hours that earned so many members this year’s Lions Clubs International Young Leaders in Service Award.
