The poster for Willow Glen Lions Wine Tasting will also be framed and signed by the artist, for a drawing at the end of the wine tasting.

On Friday, February 13, 2015, the Willow Glen Lions Club will be holding their annual wine tasting at Joseph George Fine Wines in Willow Glen.

The folks at Joseph George are enormously generous, allowing our club to sell tickets, and they run the tasting at no charge — PLUS, we make a % from any wine that’s sold that evening, as well.

Tickets for this event are $30 and it includes tasting at least 4 wines. And of course you’ll enjoy an array of the amazing hors d’oeuvres that Willow Glen Lions is so well-known for.

Tasting starts at 5 pm and goes to 7 pm. At the end of the tasting there will be an opportunity drawing for a signed and framed wine tasting poster, and during the event there will be a silent auction for a huge chocolate gift basket, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Tickets are on sale NOW and would be an awesome holiday gift for anyone on your list who likes fine wines. OR… Get four tickets and gift two to another couple — and enjoy it yourself!

Tickets can be purchased by calling Michelle Jackson at (408) 264-7310.

Advanced ticket sales ONLY. We’re limited to 80 attendees, so avoid disappointment and get your tickets soon.

The subject title should read: The screening was a success but true success is when all students needing professional examinations receive those examinations and all vision and hearing issues are addressed.

While the screening is complete there is significant follow up:

++  Work with Luther Burbank School to have parents notified of their students’ status and to have parents assist in getting their students to complete examinations where needed.

++  Arrange appointment times with three to five optometrists for the complete examinations of about 35 students.  Then ensure Luther Burbank School promotes closure/ensures students have the examinations.

++  Determine how to handle ‘referral’ of students needing complete examinations for potential hearing problems.

Please refer to Jim Isaacson any professionals who may help students reach the true success point. Read the rest of this entry »

Triet Hoang from California Phones is a wonderful guy and a true gentleman who works out of California Phones’ Berkeley Office. Last Tuesday evening he drove all the way down to Milpitas in appalling weather to speak to Milpitas Gateway Lions Club about California Phones.

California Phones is a free service, and part of the California Telephone Access Program. Their mission is to make it easier for those with handicaps of any kind to stay connected. They offer a wide variety of  free specialized phones that make it easier to hear, dial, and call. The cost of the service they provide is paid for by a small mandatory fee on all California telephone bills. Read the rest of this entry »
