As you likely know, Santa Clara County has proclaimed May lion’s eyeglass recycling month. Last year I got an eyeglass donation box and my contact turned it in to someone else. I am again in need of a donation box. My contact has already sent out her message and is collecting glasses.

Would someone in the greater San Jose/Campbell area have a donation box I could have or use for this month?

Extension Training for All

Our 4-C6 District will be having an LCI Extension Consultant coming to San Jose on June 9 through June12, 2012 who will be helping our District start College Campus Clubs and a New Club in the San Jose Cambrian Area. His name is Paul Baker from Toronto, Canada, and he will also be helping with Membership recruiting ideas for all clubs in our District.

SAVE THE DATES and have a representative or several from your club attend these Free trainings.

Sat., June 9 Santa Clara Valley Blind Center, from 10am to 4pm Campus Clubs Development (lunch provided).

Sun. June 10 San Martin Lions Hall from 1pm to 6pm New Club Development (BBQ Dinner provided by Los Gatos Lions Club). Membership Recruiting ideas for All Clubs 6pm to 7:30pm.

Guiding Lion Training

With the upcoming Extension Training in June, it’s time to certify some Guiding Lions. Are you interested in helping a new club find its way in the Lions world? Has it been more then 3 years since you were last certified as a Guiding Lion? Then come to our Guiding Lion training on May 5 at San Martin Lions Hall. We’ll be starting at 9AM and run until lunch time. We’re thinking about including lunch at the end of the training, and will post when we have that confirmed.

District 4-C6 Student Speaker Contest Winner

Almaden Super Lions Student Speaker Ahon Sarkar, wins the District 4-C6 Student Speaker Contest today at San Martin Lions Hall. Ahon is a senior at Leland High School and is coached by Mrs. Gay Brasher. He participated as a junior last year.

He spoke with confidence and conviction on the topic of “What Could the America of Yesterday Teach the America of Tomorrow?” He goes on to compete in the Area Contest on May 6 at Hilltop Green Clubhouse, 1095 Parkside Drive, El Sobrante.
