Wine Tasting – Willow Glen Lions

Hello all, we have been enjoying the fantastic support of many clubs during our short 4 years of existence.   We have our flagship wine tasting event coming up in February and thought there might be some folks in the district who would enjoy tickets as gifts.  You can read all about the event here:

I will be bringing many of my clients and associates as guests.  Properly structured, this could be a tax deductible item (talk with your tax person, please).

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Rick Loek and the Willow Glen Lions!

David Preovolos, John’s son and caregiver, writing.

Dad passed away around 10am this morning, from congestive heart failure complicated by kidney failure.

He spent a wonderful night last evening, surrounded by family, thoroughly enjoying the viewing of old Jack Benny clips on dvd, laughingly making sure all we younger generations present appreciated the show.

I’m happy to report that after that wonderful evening, he passed peacefully, in his sleep, without discomfort or alarm of any sort….which is certainly the transition he deserved, after bringing so much happiness to all of us and so many others over the years.

Memorial plans are being decided at this time, and will be reported when set.

Best Regards,
Dave Preovolos

Scales of Justice Lions Donates over 100 Warm Coats

A big thank you to District 4-C6 Lions for donating coats at the last cabinet meeting and collecting coats at your clubs for our One Warm Coat Drive.

IMG_0795The generosity of people at this time of year is heart-warming.  We gathered our over 100 coats to deliver to Sacred Heart Community Service. Among the coats were two boxes which we thought held used coats. When the boxes were opened, we found 32 NEW coats donated by an anonymous donor.

After a little investigation it was discovered it was from a woman and her husband who had gone to Las Vegas, won some money, and decided to do something nice for someone else and ordered from Walmart eight coats each for men, women, boys, and girls.  She said she had donated all her extra coats to last year’s coat drive and didn’t have anymore to give, so they went out and bought them.

Sacred Heart Community Service is thrilled, not only for the warm 604040_10152062230839450_414867325_ncoats from District 4-C6 Lions, but for the opportunity to give a really nice gift to people who are truly in need and will welcome receiving a brand new warm coat for Christmas. To learn of the selflessness of people like Robina, who has the heart of a Lion in wanting to help others, is truly the spirit of Christmas and Lionism.

If you have gently used warm coats to donate, call Scales of Justice Lions at 408-641-0765 or e-mail and we’ll arrange to pick them up.  You can drop them off at the lobby of Community Towers, 111 N. Market St., San Jose.

Sacred Heart is also desperately in need of NEW toys for their Christmas Toy Box Program. They need your help collecting over 16,500 new toys and gifts to provide 5,500 children with a joyful holiday season.  Click here for a list of items needed.

Seasons Greetings from two PDGs

Arizona, Dec 2013

Two Gov'sSo as another Christmas season sneaks up on us we have happened upon

these pictures of what happens to district governors when they run off to

the land of Native American history, Arizona. As can be seen by the confused

looks on the faces and the really over the top hats of these governors that the

PDG pension is woefully inadequate for healthy brain cell development. These

two  gov’s are enjoying a community Christmas parade in Prescott Arizona, Dec 7,

Happy Holidays from PDG Roger Hartsell and Carl Anderson.
