One Warm Coat and One Warm Heart at the
Cabinet Meeting

Getting coats from the closet to those in need involves a lot of people. Social service agencies across the country are the final step to sharing the warmth. Please help Scales of Justice Lions by looking through your closet and taking your clean, gently used warm coat to the Cabinet Meeting on November 9th for our third annual One Warm Coat drive which will run until Thanksgiving.

Coats will be donated to Sacred Heart Community Service for immediate distribution to those in need in our local community. Together, with Scales of Justice Lions, we are truly warming communities – and real people’s lives – one coat at a time.

Please contact us at 408-641-0765 [408-641-zero SOJ] or if you need to arrange a pickup.  They can also be dropped off at the lobby of Community Towers, 111 N. Market St., San Jose 95113.

Lions District 4-C6 ADA Walk 2013

Sunday, October 20, 2013, was a great day at the 6th Annual Lions District 4-C6 team participating at the ADA STEP OUT WALK to STOP DIABETES. So far our team has donated $1,145 but our goal is to surpass the $2,169 our team raised in 2012. It is not too late to go to our team page and donate if you or your club have not already donated by going to

Thanks to those of you who participated in the WALK and/or helped with the Lions AJ R Robinson Mobile Screening Unit. We could not have done it without all of you plus the Del Mar HS Leos and Co Heald College.

We screened 38 people which is exactly double the number we screened last year. Of those we tested, 9 have diabetes. Two of them were above their target range 404, 276, 241 and a couple had readings mainly due to not knowing how to take their diabetes pills and/or insulin with exercise.

I am attaching photos of our team in action.

Help special needs kids this weekend – while enjoying great beer and bites.

First of all, we thank Cupertino Host Lions for their generous support of the Brew ‘n’ Bites event!

Dear friends,

Our Willow Glen Lions Beer Tasting – Brews’n’Bites – is coming up this weekend and we have gotten some fabulous food as well as some great beers.
The tickets are only $25 each ($35 at the door) and while it’s snacking with the beer, the snacks include a sliders bar and a taco bar, as well as Nothing Bundt Cakes desserts, yakitori sticks from Yuki Sushi and much more.
And there’s a great weighted raffle with many prizes and gifts. For $25 more you get a ticket for a chance to win either a week for up to 6 at a Lake Tahoe resort, or a beautiful five bedroom home in Lake Tahoe for two nights.
Most important, your ticket purchase helps us to support Parents Helping Parents, who provide support, guidance and more for families with special needs children.
Brews’n’Bites starts at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon, October 19th, and goes through 7 pm… just in time for dinner, if you’re not too full already!
I hope you will join us and help these kids and their families. Buy tickets online at – and join the fun!!
