ADA WALK 10-10-10

It is not too late to join any one of the District Lions Teams for the ADA Walk/Run on Sunday 10/10/10 at the Arena Green Park along the Guadalupe River or start your own Lions Club team. It is only a week away, and will be here before we know it. Our Lions District is one of the event sponsors which is a great way of getting PR for the work Lions do in the community.
To join one of the Lions teams, go to, and click on Join a Team. Look for Almaden Super, Los Gatos, Los Gatos Leos, Scales of Justice, Cupertino Host, Bay Area Indo American, or San Jose North Valley and click on the team that you want to join and follow the steps. To form your own Lions or Leos club team, click on Create a Team using your club name and follow the steps.
Next it is important for you to ask for donations from your friends, neighbors, co-workers, club members, etc to support your team. We want to exceed the $4,960 that we raised last year with our District Lions clubs. Here are some tips/suggestions:
• Remember that almost everyone that you talk to knows someone or of someone who has diabetes. They will be grateful that you are raising money for a cure for diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
• Your supporters can also donate only and not walk by giving you a check made out to the ADA or doing it on line for your team. Bring the checks with you to the Walk or mail them to the ADA office with your team name and your name so we get credit.
• Don’t forget to check if you or your supporter’s employer has a company matching gift program.
• Participants who raise $100 or more will receive an ADA Walk T-shirt.
• Free parking is at the HP Pavilion main lot.
• Walking (or running) is a great exercise, you can choose to do a 1 mile, 3 mile, or 5 mile paved, flat route.
• Call Lion Val Isaacson if you have any questions, cell 408-464-3896.
Also remember that the Lions AJR Mobile Screening Unit will be at the Walk and your help is also needed before and after the Walk either with the screenings or to tell others about the work your Lions club does in your community. We are part of the Healthy Living Fair. There will also be live music, food, prizes, and an educational kid’s play zone.
See you Sunday 10/10/10,
Lion Val Isaacson, Lions District Team Captain
