Building on their already successful “Backpacks for Kids” project, through which 900 backpacks were made available to needy students in the area last year, the Almaden Super Lions this year offered other clubs in the district the opportunity to purchase backpacks and supplies at their pricing. Several clubs availed themselves of the offer and dozens of volunteers gathered on Sunday morning, August 17th, to stuff the packs with the supplies and then took their orders back to their communities for distribution. This year, an additional 400 students will benefit from this great project. For more information or to get your club involved next year, contact Bob and Judy Froom (Almaden Super).

At the Cupertino Lions Fish-A-Thon videotaping was conducted for showing on public access TV. A ‘in-studio” session was taped with Governor Marlene and myself. The two segments have been edited into a “For the Better Part” series show. Here is the schedule I received for the showing (schedule was also sent to the “Cupertino Scene”). If you have cable please look for “The Better Part”. The segment on Lions will be shown on most public access channels in the area of District 4C6. Please publish notices wherever possible. After the showing we Lions will be able to purchase DVD copies, which hopefully will be useful in letting out the secret on Lions.
