San Martin Helps Cystic Fibrosis Child Accomplish Dreams
Like many 7-year old girls, Caley Camarillo likes Disneyland and wanted to meet Miley Cyrus, star of Disney’s Hannah Montana. But unlike most other girls, Caley is battling a debilitating and fatal disease. On good days, she only needs to go through her breathing regiment. On the bad days, well those are spent at the Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital.
The San Martin Lions adopted Caley and her family back in 2006. The Lions read in the Gilroy Dispatch that the Make a Wish Foundation sent the family to Disneyland. However, Caley was too sick to go out and enjoy the park and spent the majority of time away from the park in a motel room. The San Martin Lions sent the family back to Disneyland. This time the Lions made sure she was ready for the trip and could rest close by at Disney’s California Adventure Hotel.
The club came to the family’s rescue when Dad Martin lost his job and needed help until a new job was found. The Lions put a special word into Santa and made sure that Christmas was all that is should be. Santa brought Caley and her sister Carly new bikes last year.
The Lions knew how much Caley wanted to see and meet Miley Cyrus, but the best that they could do was score some pretty cool seats at her concert on September 20 in San Jose. Caley’s Mom, Teresa, met Miley’s aunt through Twitter and told her how much it would mean to Caley.
Just before the concert started, Miley’s aunt came by and escorted Caley, Carley, Teresa and Martin back to meet Miley. Dad did his best to capture the special moment on this Youtube video:
