The A.J. Robinson Mobile Screening Unit — affectionately referred to as “The A.J.” — is a mobile trailer outfitted for providing health screenings that may highlight risks for blindness or vision problems. The trailer is also outfitted to be used for hearing screenings. The range of screenings that can be provided depends on the skills of the volunteers that staff it, but it is possible to measure height, weight, blood pressure, resting respiratory rate, and blood sugar. Equipment on board can be used to screen visual acuity, color perception, and hearing. No diagnostic procedures are performed, but patients do leave with a record of the findings that they can bring to their doctor or health care professional for followup.
The AJ is named for the late Lion A. J. Robinson, of Saratoga, who joined Lions at the tender age of seventy and went on to maintain thirty years of perfect attendance! Let that sink in for a minute, do the math, and be inspired!
Terms, conditions, requirements and fees for the use of the mobile screening unit are contained within the contract document, which can be downloaded from this page. The calendar at the bottom of this page indicates dates for which the unit is already booked.
Bookings are final and confirmed UPON RECEIPT of the signed contract and full payment of fees due, per the conditions listed in the contract. Please note with care the other conditions listed in the contract, in order to have a successful deployment of the unit. Requirements include specifics with regard to electric service, space, and staffing. The contracting club or agent is responsible for meeting these requirements.
